The Gingerbread House

So, my mother broke down and bought a gingerbread house kit. It was so beautiful on the package!

Once when I was little, she bought a gingerbread house and built it with my little brother. Again, so beautiful on the package! But it totally failed... the candy was awful and very cheap, the house itself was just as bad, and I couldn't pipe the icing, so it was very sloppy. (of course, I was only six). Since then, I have hated even the mention of gingerbread. When we went to a friend's house, she made these huge gingerbread men and bought all kinds of candy and icing. I was skeptical, but I tried. How amazing it was!!!

Then when my mother bought this kit and it turned out to be a WILTON  gingerbread house kit, I was really excited. After all, I was fourteen now, could pipe fairly decently, and I would follow ALL the directions.

And then I tried.

I got out the directions, stared at the box for a little bit, and pictured the finished house in my head. It would be the perfect post for my blog! Everyone would just laud my skills! I picked up the piping bag that came with the kit (I was thrilled over that) and turned to the house, my head overflowing with confidence, and began to decorate.

Or, would you call that.... throw together?

And this is what came out.

So, my piping skills weren't as extensive as I had foolishly imagined.

 These are painful.

Don't let them fool you; they look fruity, sugary, and amazingly delicious. They aren't.

Don't say 'Yum', say 'Um'!

Now these were pretty amazing.

I had a few helpers. :D

Little brother #3.
 Little sister #1.
Little brother #2.

Me and Babycakes, the inspiration for the blog name!

Isn't it he just too adorable???!!! You just want to kiss those little rosy cheeks!

That gingerbread house is so..... sloppy. I guess, my skills are the same as when I as six. :D So there it is.

We never ate it. After a few days of looking at it, it got thrown away.

Well, Babycakes, I hope you all had a merry Christmas filled with exciting presents, treats, and fun times with family. I know I did! :D (More about that later!)

Berry Pie Pops!

So... I just want to say thank you to everybody who is supporting me.... It means sooooooo much! :D I am so glad I can share the baked goods I make with you all!

A few days ago, I had the itch to make something. Whatever I had baked the past few days was very mediocre. Very mediocre. So, I decided I would try again. I had just received a beautiful pie pop maker from a wonderful friend and decided to try it out for the second time. The first time I tried it, the little injector that came with it had no directions, and I was beside myself with frustration trying to squirt out filling when nothing was coming out. Finally, after resortng to a spoon, the raspberry filling exploded all over the inside of the machine and all over the counter. The crusts burnt because my cousin and I were fast enough to only do one pie pop at a time. Oh, yes, we forgot to use a timer. So, I was a little hesitant to try again.

But this time, they turned out so beautiful! I found out how to use the injector, cut all the crusts ahead of time, and kept a close watch on the pie pops. This was the finished product:

And of course, I had to eat one.

What have we here?

Hmmm.....

Oooh, yummy!

Alyssa-tested, Alyssa-approved. :D

Have a cakealicious day! (yes, I just made that one up)

P.S I am developing some recipes for you all! Hopefully, I can get those done soon.

BAKING! HA HA!

I love baking, have we talked about that before? :D

I just recieved a cake pop maker, and then, I was given a pie pop maker, and then, I got a 2013 Cupcake calendar! Ah. Happy present day. It must be known I love baking.... hmmm..... how did they know?

For some reason, I feel really bouncy and happy. I know the happiness comes from God, because I have been reading my Bible and reading regularly and feeling tons of joy, but my bounciness is inexplainable. I suppose my lack of baking is the trick. I need dishes to calm me down! Ha. Not.

I need pictures in this post, so I suppose I will grab one.

I am also feeling random, did I mention that?

Well, have a great day! :D

PICTURES ARE COMING!

I am soooooo sorry about the whole leaving you and all. I am waiting for my pictures to be developed, so I am very sorry about everything!

So, I will give you a quick peek into my day at the bazaar! I sold $47.50's worth of goodies. I was very excited, because it was soooo slow at first! I only made about $15 dollars the first half of the night. It was sooo slow, I decided to go around to the other vendors and let them have a sample for fun. They had some, and one or two came to buy; I was very grateful to them! After setting out samples, I had a few people come and buy. By the end of the night, I had repaid half of my debt to my parents! Ha! Well..... the ingredients cost money!

So when I recieve my pics, they will be quickly given to you! :D Happy cupcake eating!

A Quick Little Post

Hello again!

The Bazaar planning is going pretty great right now.... for the bazaar being on TUESDAY! :D Wow. It seemed that I had so much time and then it just stole up on me. I'm a procrastinator by nature, so this happens all the time. I am working on it, though!

From what we are working on right now, the table will be absolutely ADORABLE! I am kinda afraid it is for Christmas stuff only, because we are doing a light pink, light blue, and white table and Autumn cupcake holders. :D I HOPE it won't be that bad. :D

Soooooooo, I will be getting to you about the bazaar soon. I hope I sell some stuff, because I am making 144 muffcakes, and Oreo truffles and chocolate chip cookie dough brownies for sampling, and the cost really adds up! I will be taking orders, which will be a way I could get some customers. Already, I have had at least one person waiting for a flyer so they can order. I am really excited, if you can't tell!

All I am really worried about is customer service. I mean, I love meeting new people and talking to them, but it is totally different when you are behind the counter! All the questions....... Well, I won't worry about it. :D

Thank you for all your support! Love you!

I Am Going To A Bazaar!

Hey guys! Sorry I deserted you for so long! Turns out, everything I baked this past week or two has been either eaten up before the camera was whipped out, or it wasn't pretty enough, so I allowed the goods to be eaten up. Yep! My fault completely, as usual!

Sooooo..... I have very happy news! The chance of a lifetime has come to me!!!! I am going to a bazaar! I AM SOOO HAPPY, I would be literally bouncing up and down in a hysterical way, if a cyst removal on my neck hadn't slowed me down...so I can only bounce up and about with my tongue, or in my dreams. :D

I am going to a BAZAAR! I am going to be selling my signature Muffcakes, a cross between a cupcake and muffin... I am going to be making four dozen of each flavor. The flavors will be Pumpkin Chocolate, Applesauce Raisin, and Banana Walnut. These flavors are my favorite muffin flavors, only made better with a layer of cream cheese frosting! On the Pumpkin Chocolate, though, I will only be drizzling chocolate. I don't think cream cheese would be the tastiest! :D I will be taking orders, too, so I am really excited. This is my first step into the world of Bakery businesses. You have no idea how much this means to me!

And, as an added bonus, it is a Relay for Life Bazaar, so I get to give a part of my proceeds to cancer research. Even better!

I might need some business card ideas, brochure ideas, and sign ideas. If you would be willing to e-mail me at bonjourbabycakesblog@hotmail.com with those, I would be very appreciative!

So I will be setting up on the 6th of November! I will have lots of pictures, I hope, so be ready and I will keep you posted! Maybe I will post the recipe for the muffcakes, as well!

Thank you, my loyal Babycakes!

I Have Cupcake Questions For You!

Bonjour, all my wonderful followers!

I love you all so much! Already I have a big base for being on the Web for a few days! You have no idea how much you all mean to me. You all are so wonderful; it almost makes me cry! :D

Right now, I am at my grandparent's house. Unfortunately, I don't have any of my baking supplies, otherwise I would whip something up. Right now, all I am whipping up is my appetite for a good chocolate cupcake. :D  When you bake cupcakes, what is your favorite part of making them? Is it the mixing of the ingredients, or the agonizing wait for the timer to go off on the oven, or the decorating afterwards, or just sinking your teeth into a moist, crumbly delicious item of happiness? I think it all is exciting, but what is your take on the whole thing? I would like to know! I want to get to know you, even through the little questions!

What I do love at my grandparent's house(besides seeing them, of course) is playing ping pong on the garage door. Since they don't have a ping pong table, we just hit the ball on the door and it bounces back. My brother and I will have tournaments to see who can rally the most. In between each match, my other siblings will come rushing in; one with an American flag, one with roller skates on, and one on his belly on a skateboard. They will go round and round the garage as the commercial break. Then it is back to the game. This is the only way commercials are fun!

Well, I hope you will eat a cupcake for me and have a great weekend! :D

My love to you,
Alyssa

Bonjour!

Bonjour, Babycakes!

How are all of you doing this fine week? Having cupcakes, I hope?

I am sooo happy that I am now in the Blogosphere. I love knowing that now I have my own little corner of the Internet where I can share my hopes, dreams, failures, and cupcakes. I really don't know what to do with myself. :D

I love blogging already. I absolutely adore designing my blog, I love the struggle with words I have posting, I love being able to share my baking adventures, and let all of my friends, family, and followers know what's going on in the kitchen.

What I am going to do on this blog is share the recipes I am working on, show you my bakery inspiration, entertain you with family life, and post just random photos(which will probably be my favorite, personally). :D I hope you will be entertained and enlightened!

Love to you,
Alyssa
